International Folklore Festival Ożarów Mazowiecki

This is the X edition!
0

Welcome to the International Folklore Festival – Ożarów Mazowiecki. Organised since 2013, this years’ edition is very special – because it is a 10th anniversary! But before we get to that, let’s dive a bit into the history…

Starting in 2013, the International Folklore Festival – Ożarów Mazowiecki has been a very important cultural event in the city and it’s neighbourhood. Ożarów Mazowiecki, the headquarters of Ożarów Mazowiecki Municipality and Western Warsaw County (Powiat Warszawski Zachodni) has been a main organizer since then. Over the years we invited a lot of partners from neighbouring municipalities to co organise the festival and spread the culture all over the region. Our partners included municipalities: Błonie, Stare Babice, Kampinos, Leszno, as well as the Warsaw City District Bemowo and Western Warsaw County.

We hosted a lot of countries and regions too! The first edition featured groups from Greece, Northern Macedonia, Ukraine and Hungary. In 2014, the festival featured artists from the Basque Country, Türkiye, Brazil and Sicily. In the third edition, 2015, the Ożarów Mazowiecki Municipality hosted groups from Belarus, Israel, Serbia and Lithuania, and in 2016, groups from Spain, Slovakia, Romania and Ukraine. In 2017, festival-goers had the pleasure of admiring the artistic achievements of groups from Mexico, Türkiye, Belarus and Croatia. In 2018, audiences were captivated by groups from Taiwan, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Germany. The 2019 edition of the festival introduced audiences to cultures from countries such as Colombia, Ukraine, Hungary and Italy. 2020-2022 editions of the festival were cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, but we returned in 2023, hosting groups from Mexico, Canada, Türkiye and India, and in 2024 when the festival featured artists from Czechia and Slovenia. Our municipality was represented in each edition of the Festival by the Folk Ensemble “Ożarowiacy” from the “Uśmiech” Cultural Centre.

For over 10 years, this event has been a unique experience with folklore from abroad and various regions of Poland, offering folklore fans a special opportunity to explore the folk culture of other countries and expand their knowledge of family traditions. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for festival participants to make new friends. Through such initiatives, we become ambassadors for our homeland among our invited guests.
And that’s why we want YOU to take a part in our little milestone, the 10th edition of the festival!
